It’s the second day of the #YouCanCare week. Today at CCL, we are celebrating two lovely ladies: Sarah Cobbold, Lead Support Worker and Margaret Jones, Support Worker.

Sarah Cobbold, Lead Support Worker

Sarah is pictured with Matthew playing scrabble. Currently, Sarah is Lead Support Worker at our Kynaston scheme. Sarah has been at CCL for 13 years, so naturally she has fulfilled many roles in that time, from Support Worker to Deputy Manager! Sarah has also worked in all of the houses and has even been a part of opening some of them up! As you can imagine, she knows all of the residents well and has been a vital member of CCL over the years.

Before Sarah started her career in care, she worked in the health and beauty section of Sainsbury’s. She was inspired to start her caring career when she took her friend who has severe learning disabilities to Harry Potter World, which made her friend’s dreams come true. It was rewarding and made Sarah happy to see the positive impact she had made on her friend. Therefore, when she saw an advert in the newspaper for a Support Worker role at CCL, she knew it was for her! 13 years later and she definitely made the right choice!

When speaking to Sarah about why she loves her job, she said “The guys I support. I just think they are so brave! Just supporting them with what’s going on at the moment and helping them to understand is so important. I come home with a smile on my face every day. I can’t actually believe I am paid to do this! I really love my job and I wouldn’t have been here 13 years if I didn’t!”.

Earlier in the week, you may have seen on CCL’s social media the quote: “Choose a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life!” – this is very true for Sarah!

Margaret Jones, Support Worker.

Also pictured is Margaret with Bethan. Margaret is a Support Worker at our Walford Lodge scheme. Margaret joined CCL 18 months ago! Before moving into the care sector and joining CCL, she worked in the hospitality industry in a café. Margaret was unsure what she wanted to do in the future, but after discovering CCL’s Support Worker advert and interacting with the residents at her interview, she knew the role was perfect for her!

When asking Margaret about why she moved into the care industry she said “I moved into care because I wanted to be able to get something positive out of my job, something that motivates me to go back every day and working at Walford lodge that has definitely happened.”

Margaret also said that the thing she loves about her role at CCL is “The joy the guys bring to me, especially working through the pandemic, we’ve become their second family, and to see how well they have coped in the circumstances makes it so worthwhile”.

Margaret has been inspired by her role at CCL and aspires to be a nurse in the future.

Thank you to Sarah and Margaret! Keep posted for tomorrow’s article!
