The National Citizen Service (NCS) have been busy raising money and helping to develop CCL’s Hall Bank Mews Sensory Garden
The NCS is a 4 week programme for teenagers that encourages them to participate in activities such as outdoor pursuits, driving lessons, first aid, business management and team building exercises to name a few. The third week of the programme is about the group coming together, working as a team and choosing a local good cause that benefits the community. This year the group chose to help and develop the sensory garden at CCL’s Hall Bank Mews Scheme in Pontesbury.
Initially the NCS group held a table top sale in St Marys Church, Shrewsbury, where they raised an impressive £157, enabling them to buy paints, plants, wind chimes and other items for the garden. The following week the group arrived at Hall Bank Mews to start the transformation. They worked very professionally and the residents loved chatting with them and watching the work take place. The fences were painted in rainbow colours, they planted a variety of sensory plants, made a musical wall using bottles and pipes, a CD wall, sensory charms for the tress and made space for the new rockery and water feature.
A BIG Thank You to NCS for choosing CCL for your fundraising event. The garden has been transformed into a tranquil space, that the residents can enjoy and will continue to enjoy for years to come.
