Learner Café is held every Friday at The Grafton Centre, with a different theme each week. With this week being Valentines the learners have enjoyed making cards, decorations and lots of cake!
Learner Café provides learners with the opportunity to build on communication skills, improve confidence, encourage choice making and independence.
This week learners have been making Valentines cards for their friends using Makaton symbols. These were presented in the Grafton dining hall during Learner Café, where learners had been following recipe cards to create a selection of sweet treats.
In addition to baking, learners were encouraged and supported to take food and drink orders from their friends using a picture and number communication strategy, they then delivered the requests to each table.
It was a great afternoon and a brilliant way to end the half term.
